Clear numbers, before the conversation
CapitalCalcs is a free toolkit for estimating the financial decisions that matter — so you walk into every lender, broker, or advisor meeting already knowing your numbers.
Why we built this
Big financial decisions — a mortgage, an auto loan, a 401(k) contribution, paying down debt, buying an annuity — usually start with a single nervous question: "What's this actually going to cost me?"
Too often the only way to get an answer is to hand over your contact details to a salesperson and wait for a callback. We think you deserve to run the real numbers yourself, instantly and for free, before anyone has your phone number. That's the whole idea behind CapitalCalcs.
What you'll find here
- Loan & mortgage estimators — monthly payments, total interest, amortization, PMI, and the impact of extra or bi-weekly payments.
- Retirement & income tools — 401(k) growth projections, annuity payouts, and the power of compounding.
- Debt & planning tools — avalanche vs. snowball payoff, student-loan repayment (including income-driven estimates), home affordability, rent vs. buy, and emergency-fund targets.
- Markets & more — live dividend yields, a crypto hub, and an optional AI assistant to talk through the concepts.
What we believe
- Free should mean free. Every calculator works without a login or a paywall. An account is optional — it just lets you save scenarios.
- Transparency over hype. Our results are clearly labeled as estimates, with the assumptions stated, so you know what you're looking at.
- Your data is yours. We don't sell your information, and you can delete your account any time. See our Privacy Policy.
- Honesty about money. We're not a lender or adviser, and we'll always tell you when something is an estimate or when you should talk to a licensed professional.
Why you can trust our numbers
We're not asking you to take our word for it — we show our work:
- Standard, established formulas. Our calculators use the same time-value-of-money math that lenders, financial planners, and finance textbooks rely on — nothing proprietary or black-box.
- Published methodology. Every calculator's formulas, assumptions, and data sources are documented on our How We Calculate page, so you can see exactly how each result is reached.
- Transparent, editable assumptions. Results are clearly labeled as estimates and every input is yours to change — your numbers, your scenario.
- Genuinely independent. CapitalCalcs isn't owned by, or beholden to, any lender, broker, or brokerage — so the tools have no reason to steer your results.
- Accountable. If a figure ever looks off, we investigate every report and correct it promptly.
How CapitalCalcs stays free
We keep the lights on through affiliate partnerships — when you choose to use a partner link, we may earn a referral fee at no extra cost to you. It never changes your results or the price you pay. We explain exactly how this works in our Affiliate Disclosure.
Who's behind it
Hi — I'm Robert, the person behind CapitalCalcs. I'm not a financial advisor, and I won't pretend to be. My background is in information technology within the financial sector, where I've spent years building and maintaining reliable systems and working with financial data. That's the lens I bring here: not stock tips, but a builder's obsession with getting the numbers right and making them clear.
CapitalCalcs started as a fun side project. The more I dug into it, the more I cared — I'd financed my own cars and homes, squinted at confusing amortization schedules, and been blindsided by things like PMI, and I was tired that most calculator sites were either buried in ads or wrapped in advisor-speak. So I set out to build the clean, honest, genuinely useful tools I wish I'd had. It's an independent project based in Georgia, USA — not backed by any bank, lender, or brokerage, so the only thing these tools are trying to do is give you a clear picture.
Every formula here is documented in our methodology, the math is tested, and your results are never hidden behind ad walls. These tools are for education and planning, not personalized financial advice — so for big decisions, please confirm with a licensed professional. But for running the real numbers first? That's exactly what I built this for.
