Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 18, 2026
Your trust matters. This policy explains what CapitalCalcs collects, why, and the choices you have.
Who we are
CapitalCalcs ("CapitalCalcs," "we," "us," or "our") is a free financial-calculator website operated by an individual (sole proprietor) based in the State of Georgia, United States. You can reach us any time at hello@capitalcalcs.com.
Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account details — if you create an account, we collect your name (optional), email address, and a securely hashed password (handled by Firebase Authentication; we never see or store your raw password).
- Saved scenarios — calculator inputs you choose to save (e.g., a mortgage scenario) are stored with your account so you can revisit them.
- Email sign-ups — if you join our newsletter, we store the email address you submit.
- Messages — anything you send us by email.
Information collected automatically
- Usage & device data — via Firebase/Google Analytics and standard server logs, we may collect anonymized or pseudonymized data such as page views, approximate (city-level) location, device and browser type, and referring pages.
- Local storage & cookies — we use browser local storage and cookies to keep you signed in, remember preferences (like light/dark mode and watchlists), and measure aggregate usage.
Calculator inputs you enter but do not save are processed in your browser and are not transmitted to us.
How we use your information
- To provide and maintain the calculators and your account.
- To save and display the scenarios you choose to keep.
- To send the newsletter you opted into (you can unsubscribe at any time).
- To understand aggregate usage so we can improve the site.
- To respond to your questions and maintain the security of the service.
How information is shared
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:
- Service providers — primarily Google Firebase (authentication, database, hosting, analytics, and serverless functions), which processes data on our behalf under Google's terms.
- Affiliate partners — when you click an affiliate link, the destination site (e.g., a lender or brokerage) may set its own cookies and collect information under its privacy policy. We do not pass your account details to them. See our Affiliate Disclosure.
- Legal requirements — if required by law or to protect our rights and users' safety.
Third-party market data & AI features
Live prices, yields, and similar figures are retrieved from third-party data sources and may be delayed or inaccurate. If you use the AI Helper, your messages are sent to a third-party AI provider to generate a response; please don't share sensitive personal or financial-account information in that chat.
Data retention
We keep account information for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing hello@capitalcalcs.com.
Your choices & rights
- Access or delete your account data — email us and we'll help.
- Unsubscribe from emails using the link in any newsletter or by contacting us.
- Cookies — you can block or clear cookies in your browser, though some features (like staying signed in) may stop working.
Depending on where you live (e.g., under U.S. state privacy laws), you may have additional rights to access, correct, or delete your data. Contact us to exercise them.
Children's privacy
CapitalCalcs is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We rely on Google Firebase's infrastructure and reasonable safeguards to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll revise the "Last updated" date above, and significant changes may be highlighted on the site.
